Animation & Special Effects
Students in the Animation and Special Effects minor study the interconnected components of performance capture, rendering, 3D and 2D animation, and special effects. They merge arts and technology perspectives to explore each of these components and the area of digital animation as a whole.

Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Students in this minor work collaboratively in hands-on explorations of the complete 21st century innovation ecosystem. Students experience integrated models of innovation that increase the likelihood of home-run products and services that will captivate society and/or the marketplace.
Intelligent Environments
Students will focus on spaces that support efficiency and high quality of experience, addressing the integrated development of such environments and the resulting experience. They explore this integrated approach in many contexts: daily activity, built environment, making process, arts performance.
Media Design
The Media Design minor serves students who are interested in applying media technologies and practices to live experiences. It explores the interconnected development of technology and content in new media systems and the meaning that arises from the resulting forms.
Physical Computing
Students will explore the technical, experiential, and semantic issues of embedding computing in artifacts and address the key components of physical computing: from the fabrication of the interface and development of the circuitry to the integration of component elements within different contexts.
Soft Technologies
This minor weaves together a rich set of traditions and techniques to animate soft materials and matter. Students will explore the unique qualities that soft technologies afford in design and interaction — responsiveness, adaptivity, sensitivity, morphing, biomimicry, and forms of intelligence.
Sonic Arts
Students will explore the processes and products of digital sound and music. They receive basic training in key component areas: principles of computer music, sound synthesis, spatialization, and concepts in sound design.
